Lamb’s Ear is from the genus Stachys and is well known for its furry, silvery leaves that can grow as large as twelve inches long, depending on variety. Lamb’s Ear blooms in the summer, with flower spikes showing small purple-pink or violet flowers. There are non-flowering varieties. These plants work very well in sensory and children’s gardens… or any garden! Clumps spread by rooting stems and although it is not invasive, it can grow to a fairly large clump which can be divided in the spring as new growth begins.

  • Sun to Part Sun
  • Plant in moist, well-drained soils
  • Great in containers
  • Plant size and bloom color is variety specific
  • Great grouped in beds or in borders or used as a groundcover
