Fringetree is a small, ornamental tree, noted for its profuse spring bloom of fragrant white flowers. It is called Fringetree because of the clusters of fringe-like petals and branch ends, which appear in late spring or early summer. Fringetrees are usually have a rounded, wide-spreading shape and are commonly grown as multi-trunk trees, although they may be single trunk. Female flowers may produce bird attracting fruit in the late summer or fall. The leaves are leathery and light green in color, and these leaves may turn yellow in the fall. Mature size is species specific. Plant in moist, fertile, acidic, well-drained soil. Although they can grow in some shade, the best flowering will occur in a full sun location.
